I did not have a 19mm wrench so I dug out a special wrench, a flared nut ratcheting flared nut wrench and it worked. I tried with the crows foot but could not get enough turning torque. Tip #4 – When you try to start threading the flared nut into the power steering rack, you must apply inward pressure while turning the nut. Do not even think about installing a Phillips screwdriver into the tubing opening and using it to apply bending force you will deform the tubing flare and it will leak. Using the crescent wrench on the nut does not damage the steel hose and pipe threads. Apply just enough force to bend the tubing slightly. I pulled the hose, stuck it in my vise, and used a crescent wrench on the flats of the flared fitting to bend the tubing. If the tubing were just a little more angled toward the front of the car, it seemed it would work. I could not line it up correctly and the insertion angle was just not right. Tip #3 – When you connect flared fitting to the power steering rack, try to align the fitting up so that it goes in at the correct angle. You do not have to remove the engine mount. Tip #2 – To remove the hose which goes through the engine mount, push the hose toward the front of the car and down, then pull it out through the engine mount toward the passenger side. Once you cut the tubing, use a regular socket to remove the line.

Using a hacksaw is OK but using a mining tubing cutter used by plumbers is fast and only take 2 minutes. Tip #1 – To remove the hose fitting at the power steering rack, do not use a tubing wrench or crow’s foot wrench. I used the following on my 2006 Honda Accord 2.4L. The following tips will assist you in removing and reinstalling the hose in your 4 cylinder Honda Accord. Replacing power steering hoses is a simple yet sometimes frustrating, tedious job. Larger wrenches will work with the pump, battery run time and application speed will be impacted.
